Effluvia (poem)

I am a soul who lives in the gutter
Raking through.... the.... efflu....via
For gems of human inspiration
Discarded like trash into the sea
These torrents of man come
Floating by like dumpsters
Like barges
Leaving the city
They all have that smell
Of garbage cast upon them
But they were never cast properly

In those piles of rubbish
Criminals and tenants
Evicted excommunicated
Purged like Bulemia
From Roman vomitoriums
Runaways, rancid angels
Looking for an angle
A way to get free

These paupers I have sent thee
You have cast away
These wretched, tormented
Make you think you’re free

Written dregs of anger
Saints of persecution
Pain, agony
Of tortured elocution

Timeless miserable (Use French pronunciation)
This life you live is dying
I swear there is no heaven
Until you’ve known this hell

I am a soul who lives in the gutter
Raking through.... the.... efflu....via
For gems of human inspiration
Discarded like trash into the sea
These torrents of man come
Floating by like dumpsters
Like barges
Leaving the city
They all have that smell
Of garbage cast upon them
But they were never cast properly

(fade out):
They were never cast properly
They were never cast properly
They were never cast properly

(written for the gothic dark comedy play/screenplay “Moons of Dracula”)
